Rod Kirkham Rod Kirkham is Managing Director of Bak2Bak Communications Pty Ltd. He has been involved in the information technology industry for over 25 years, initially working for a software development company in the US, who were a pioneer in computer-based training programs, where his clients included US Government bodies such as the Pentagon and NASA, as well as corporate clients such as General Motors.

Rod returned to Australia in 1987 and took up a position with Microsoft Australia as their branch manager in the ACT, once again working with Government departments in conjunction with Microsoft’s reseller network, before being offered the role of National Training and Promotions manager. This saw him as Microsoft’s front man at seminars,
product launches and technology expos around the country as well as touring with Bill Gates during the road show to launch Windows in Australia. In his role as Training Manager, Rod set up the Microsoft Certified Training program and conducted product training for Microsoft staff and select corporate clients. Rod then moved into a product marketing role and was responsible for all Microsoft applications on the Apple Macintosh and launched the first version of the Microsoft Office suite of products.

In 1990, Rod and his family made a lifestyle move to South-East Queensland and he worked in corporate sales and then management with the State’s largest Apple reseller before moving to database giant, Oracle systems. In 1993, Rod established Bak2Bak Communications as a consulting firm specialising in software application and business skills training, and then expanded the business to offer information systems design and development and project management services.

Rod’s many years of experience in sales, marketing, training, project management and information systems development disciplines gives him a broad, mature view of your business needs and his excellent communication and presentation skills enable him to firstly understand and then clearly deliver your strategies to your end users.

Sky Kirkham (B.IT) is Bak2Bak’s Chief Applications Developer and has been part of the Information Technology industry for 12 years, working in a broad range of industries including Health, Resources, Education and Retail.

Prior to joining Bak2Bak in 2008, Sky was with a faculty IT department of a major Queensland University and was involved in the preparation and launch of their new website as well as network administration and support of staff and students. He has also worked for a large Queensland healthcare cooperative as an applications developer and third party programmer on Microsoft’s Enterprise Resource Planning platform, Nav (formerly Navision), and for a private healthcare company as their IT administrator and lead applications developer.
